I'm bringing back this topic with a slightly modified question, and in response to the the New 2-D Sonic Game thread madness, I want to ask all the old school "hardcore" Sonic gamers why you feel the games need to go in this direction? i.e. Become more like the old games in terms of gameplay and mechanics.

I am just not seeing it, I like the old games, but I like the new ones too and I really don't want the old style to be the main focus again. Why aren't most just satisfied with them trying to perfect the 3-D style of games?

But I digress and my opinion has become less than wanted around here, but I want to hear from you, so please feel free to educated me.

The genre/perspective of any new sonic game is irrelevant to the overall quality since Sonic Team is now run by a team with the skill of a pack of trained monkeys.

Sega of Japan had intended NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams as a brief rest from the never-ending onslaught of Sonic game after Sonic game. In Ben’s own words: “There’s no doubt that Sonic Team have lost their quality touch. They are worse than talentless: they are without passion. Bored, weary, closed-minded and out of touch with any sense of what makes games good anymore.” Quite simply put, after making so many of them, Sonic Team is tired of Sonic games – something Ben cites as a reason for Yuji Naka’s resignation in 2006.

Valid point, I see what you're getting at. So you think SEGA is just trying sabotage itself?
